Contigo’s Story

Meet Contigo, a 17-year-old Paso Fino gelding who has been a cherished part of my life for the past 11 years. Contigo is a sensitive, intelligent, and incredibly sweet horse with a personality that is truly one of a kind. He loves learning new things, spending time in the pasture with his buddies, and enjoying his favorite treats carrots, apples, and soft black licorice.

Contigo's story is one of resilience and second chances. At just four years old, he was rescued from a meat auction for only $84.50. His original owner had given up on him, calling him a "bad example of the Paso Fino breed" and claiming he should never be ridden. What they failed to see was the remarkable horse beneath the surface. Contigo simply needed patience, understanding, and someone willing to build a relationship based on trust.

Over the years, Contigo and I have developed an incredible bond. He is not naturally the bravest or most confident horse and relies on a calm, confident rider when he feels scared or uncertain. In return, he offers unwavering trust, loyalty, and companionship. Together, we have learned countless lessons about overcoming fear, working through challenges, and believing in ourselves even when others doubt our potential.

As a Paso Fino, Contigo belongs to a small Latin American gaited horse breed known for its exceptionally smooth ride. His comfortable gaits and willing attitude make him a joy to ride, but it is his heart that makes him truly special.

Contigo is my heart horse, my escape, and the horse I always dreamed of having. He has touched the lives of many people with his journey and continues to remind me that every horse deserves the chance to be understood. He is a huge part of my heart and soul, and I am grateful for every day we share together.
